MP FOR UPPER WEST AKIM CONSTITUENCY E/R SUPPORTS 17 GRADUANTS

April 18, 2026

The Government of Ghana, led by John Dramani Mahama, launched the Adwumawura Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative in April 2025. The programme targets 10,000 young people each year, aged 18 to 35. It is backed by a GH₵100 million allocation and provides mentorship, skills training, equipment, and start up capital, in collaboration with the National Apprenticeship Programme.

On Saturday, 18 April 2026, the Member of Parliament for Upper West Akim, Emmanuel Kofi Drah, donated start up equipment to 17 graduates who completed a three year hairdressing apprenticeship.

He commended the master craftsmen and trainers for their commitment to developing the graduates. He also recognised the committee for organising the graduation and supporting the trainees.

The Member of Parliament urged the committee to partner with the National Vocational Training Institute to strengthen the graduates’ technical capacity and certification.

He further pledged to support the top three graduates who pass their NVTI examinations with fully furnished containers to help them establish their businesses.

He reaffirmed his commitment to expanding job creation and ensuring that young people in Upper West Akim benefit from national development opportunities.
