UPPER WEST AKIM DISTRICT HEALTH COMMITTEE HOLDS 2ND QUARTER MEETING; MEMBERS SWORN INTO OFFICE

The Upper West Akim District Assembly successfully held the 2nd Quarter District Health Committee Meeting following the official inauguration and swearing-in of members by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Rebecca Chissah.

Administering the oath of office and oath of secrecy, Hon. Rebecca Chissah charged members to work collaboratively with the Ghana Health Service and other stakeholders to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve the health outcomes of residents across the district.

The District Health Committee is chaired by Mr. Dominic Aniah, a retired Physician Assistant, who expressed his appreciation for the confidence reposed in the committee and pledged to provide effective leadership in supporting quality healthcare delivery throughout the district.

During the meeting, the DCE highlighted some of the Assembly’s key achievements in the health sector, including:

* Construction and inauguration of the Katenyensua CHPS Compound.
* Construction and inauguration of the Asuokaw CHPS Compound.
* Completion and inauguration of the Adeiso Female Ward.
* Donation of medical equipment to health facilities across the district to improve healthcare services.

She further announced that:

* Oppong CHPS Compound is approximately 90% complete.
* Atimatim CHPS Compound is approximately 85% complete.
* New CHPS compounds will be constructed at Maame Dede and Asuaba within the year to further expand access to quality primary healthcare.

The committee also deliberated on key agenda items, including the district health performance update, disease surveillance and public health issues, maternal and child health, immunization and outreach services, partner activities and resource mobilization, as well as other matters aimed at strengthening the district’s health system.

The meeting brought together committee members from the District Assembly, Ghana Health Service, health institutions and other key stakeholders, including:

The Upper West Akim District Health Committee reaffirmed its commitment to working with the District Assembly, the Ghana Health Service and development partners to improve access to quality healthcare and promote the well-being of all residents in the district.
