ELECTION AND SWEARING-IN OF THE PRESIDING MEMBER OF THE UPPER WEST AKIM DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

The Upper West Akim District Assembly, at its Special Meeting held on Thursday, 7th May 2026, elected Hon. Mohammed Kofi Yasimo, Assembly Member for the Kwaobaah Electoral Area, as the Presiding Member of the Assembly.

The election was conducted by the District Electoral Officer and was attended by Thirty-Six (36) members, all of whom were present and voted, out of the total membership of Forty (40) Assembly Members.

At the end of the voting, Hon. Mohammed Kofi Yasimo secured Thirty-Three (33) “Yes” votes and Three (3) “No” votes out of the Thirty-Six (36) valid votes cast, representing Eighty-Two Point Five Percent (82.5%) of the votes.

Having obtained more than the required two-thirds majority of the votes cast, Hon. Mohammed Kofi Yasimo was duly elected as Presiding Member of the Upper West Akim District Assembly. He was subsequently sworn into office by His Honour Maxwell Ofori Kpodo, Circuit Court Judge for Amasaman.
