On June 18, 2026 – The Upper West Akim District Assembly has commissioned a newly constructed maternity ward at the Adeiso District Health Centre and distributed essential medical equipment to selected health facilities within the district as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery and strengthen maternal and child health services.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Rebecca Chissah; the Member of Parliament (MP) for Upper West Akim Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Kwesi Drah; the District Coordinating Director, Ms. Ruhaima Salisu; the District Health Director, Dr. Ziblim Adam Kasule; traditional authorities, clergy, Assembly Members, heads of departments, health workers, and community members.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Emmanuel Kwesi Drah acknowledged the healthcare challenges facing the constituency and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that improve access to quality healthcare services. He also encouraged health professionals to uphold professionalism and ethical standards in service delivery.
Hon. Rebecca Chissah emphasized the importance of maintaining public infrastructure and reiterated the government’s commitment to improving healthcare facilities and ensuring that health institutions are adequately equipped to meet the needs of residents.
The District Health Director, Dr. Ziblim Adam Kasule, expressed appreciation to the MP and DCE for their continuous support and appealed for further assistance to enhance healthcare service delivery within the district. He also officially introduced Dr. Aaron Kwame Antoh as the Medical Officer in Charge of the Adeiso District Health Centre.
On behalf of the Adeiso Traditional Authority, Nana Ofei Toah commended the Health Directorate for its efforts in addressing public health challenges and praised the government for its interventions in healthcare, education, agriculture, youth development, and poultry farming.
The newly commissioned maternity ward is expected to provide a safer and more conducive environment for expectant mothers, improve access to quality maternal healthcare, and contribute to reducing maternal and infant mortality rates in the district.
